The importance of reviews – 5 STAR agent

Like almost every adult in North America, I buy things on Amazon. One of the reasons I like that platform is that I can read reviews on items and hopefully learn from other buyers’ experiences.

I’ve learned to disregard the lowest and highest and try to see a majority opinion on an item. Why throw out the lowest? After reading many of these I’ve determined it’s usually someone who can’t figure out how to open a box or read directions. With regards to the highest, it’s sometimes someone who likes to write reviews and has not even used the item. They usually start out with, “while my item has just arrived” and end with “so far, so good”. Often there’s an updated review.

When choosing a real estate professional, I believe the consumer should read reviews. Like Amazon, be aware of the review of the person who can’t open the box – leaving a negative (one star) review because their lender was late funding the loan, delaying the close or they were unhappy with the home inspector’s photos in their report.

Look for trends in the five star reviews. Was the agent easy to get in contact with? Were they knowledgeable? Did they explain the process and bring the right professionals into the process? These and other comments will help you decide if you’d like to interview the agent you are taking a look at. Looking at reviews is one step to determing who you would like to work with.
