Dave has lived in Olympia since 1999 with his wife and four children. He started his Real Estate career in the mid 1980’s in the San Francisco Bay area, where he was a Broker. He enjoys working with buyers and helping sellers market their homes to get the best results.
Dave is a member and legislative representative for the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. He takes special interest in assisting tribal members and other Native Americans to access programs such as 184 loans. In his off time, Dave enjoys boating and fishing.

He/we prevailed and we are as pleased as can be with our home purchase. Dave was amazing. He is very personable, thorough, and patient as we looked at homes. We began looking at houses in June and finally settled on a home in January. Dave patiently showed us homes all over the Olympia area. He faithfully scoured the MLS listings for potential homes and sent us weekly updates for us to review. If there was a home with potential, Dave would help us walk through the positives and negatives of each property, and then step back to let us make our decision. When it came time to write up the offer, Dave provided us with great advice and went over and above to help us close in a timely fashion. We actually looked forward to touring homes with him. I called Van Dorm Realty in the Spring of 2014, and by some feat of great luck, was put through to Dave Carney. He and I visited a handful of houses/properties in the Olympia area, and during that process, Dave was carefully listening to me and what I and my husband’s dreams of a home were and how that would also meet the needs of my dog training business. Due to financial issues, I told Dave I would be buying a house in the next year, instead, and that I would be sure to call him then.
Dave graciously said that he would love to still show me some places in the meantime, just to check out the market and explore. Happily we didn’t have to wait. Our financial situation turned around, and I put Dave back to work! I called him one day in May (2014), excited about a property I had seen in Yelm, WA with land and a big building for training (it turned out to be a dump). Dave said that he would arrange to show it to me, but asked if he could show me another property in the Yelm area he thought was really nice. I said “of course!” So he and my husband and I met at the property I had wanted to view, which turned out to be dismal. Then he drove us way out in the country to our dream home. It was the first day on the market. We loved it! I could go on and on about how Dave help us in so many ways through the buying process but it would be like writing a book. I have a new respect for the business of Realty. It takes a very special person and Dave is one of those! I could also go on and on about how perfect this place has been, and what a joy it is to live here. I still feel like it’s a dream we were led to this home/property, which has a beautiful training building, kennel, fenced land and a gorgeous newer house that has everything we dreamed of.
Didn’t mean to make this so long but in reality, it’s SHORT. So much more I could say about Dave and his skills and passion as a realtor. He is honest, too (in the first properties, he didn’t sugar coat the negatives of the homes). He made house hunting/buying a real joy and we will never forget Dave and give him full credit for the reason we got this great place.
